Before hiring a new employee, the standard procedure of all business organization in the United States is to conduct a criminal record search. The state governments and courts are responsible for providing informations related to criminal records of each individual.
The easier and faster way to conduct a criminal record search nowadays is through online. People must first submit a request for the record from every jurisdiction where the person has lived. As much as possible, the request must contain very specific information such as date of birth, birthplace, race, past addresses and social security numbers as well. Then, they must also need to request the records from federal authorities and pay the required fee.
There are two types of criminal record search- the Instant and Delayed Search. Instant Search is done by those people who want an immediate access to a person’s criminal record. Although this search is limited, this could only take a few minutes after the request. Whereas, the Delayed Search is conducted for more extensive information on a person’s criminal record and would take more time to be completed.

As government authorities continue to provide this information online, people will surely have the convenience in finding these records at their own time for the purpose of protection.
